If you want to spend your holidays in Chianti, living in a prestigious villa in Tuscany, choose Villa Orchidea.
Splendid, ancient Tuscan villa dating back to the 17th century, owned by the Posarelli family, completely restored and set inside a large property of 90 hectares surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The villa offers enchanting panoramic views over the surrounding landscape and over San Gimignano in the distance.
The villa is very well equipped and offers beautiful and cosy interiors furnished with prestigious antiques.
Distances: Bagnano with food shop and pizzeria approx. 1 km, Barberino Val D’elsa with all kinds of shops and tennis court 6 km, Certaldo approx. 6 km, San Gimignano with its beautiful towers dating back to the medieval period approx. 30 km, Florence about 40 km. Siena and Volterra are in a 45-minute drive. The medieval hamlet of S. Appiano and Linari worth a visit. The small and charming village of Petrognano with ruins of the town of Semifonte destroyed in 1202 by the Florentine, is in a short distance.
At guest’s disposal: large, fenced and furnished garden (5.500 m2), swimming pool (12,5 x 6,5 m – maximum depth 2,5 m – open from 01/04 to 31/10), pavilion with small bar, dressing-room, bathroom with shower and laundry with washing-machine. Telephone available. Covered parking within the grounds. On the premises there is a charming private chapel.
Extra services: baby bed is available by arrangement at € 52,- / per week to be paid locally. Maid and cook service for excellent meals based on Tuscany recipes available by arrangement (price to be agreed at the time the booking is confirmed). The wine and the olive oil produced in the property as well as fresh vegetables of the backyard are available for clients to be purchased. The area surrounding the property offers and ideal terrain for nice walks.

"We stayed at the villa orchidea with a group of 14 friends and we all had the holiday of a lifetime. All the rooms are spacious and very comfortable, the catering facilities and excellent and the pool has a breathtaking view over the valley below. We would all whole-heartedley recomment a stay here to anyone.

The Villa is unique and has wonderful links to it origins in the 17th century. We truly enjoyed the features, its multiple rooms and it historical accuracy.

We really enjoyed Villa Orchidea! There is a capstone above the door indicating that it was started in 1616. Some of the walls are 4 feet thick. It was very clean and well-kept.
Chira greeted us and gave us the keys. She is very charming! We would have enjoyed having her spend the week with us.
We had a group of 9 and we didn't even use several rooms. We spent most of our time in the kitchen and the smaller dining room with the huge fireplace.
The location is about half way between Florence and Sienna but we stayed with the small villages like San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Barberino, and Certaldo Alto.
There is a local pizzeria in Sciano which is about 4 km to the west. A little further to the west is Certaldo which has a good patisserie and a grocery store along the main road. East of the villa is Barberino which seems nice but we didn't have time to explore it.
One thing to note is that the washing machine didn't work very well so don't plan on doing a lot of laundry. Pack light!
