Casa Vania

We had an absolutely wonderful vacation at this gorgeous hillside cottage. The house is designed for about six people, so with just the three of us, we had more than enough space to feel completely at ease. The view is simply breathtaking, perched halfway up a mountain with a fantastic panoramic look over the landscape. It felt like waking up in a postcard every morning.

The cottage itself was beautifully maintained and well-equipped. We had brought a lot of household items and food with us, only to find that the house already had everything we could possibly need. As a welcoming touch, the hosts had left us a lovely bottle of wine and a delicious cake, which made us feel incredibly welcome.

Even though the owners themselves didn’t speak much English, they had arranged for a keyholder who did, and we received a warm, hospitable welcome with everything explained in perfect English. (Thanks Iris for the nice welcome and check out)

We used the house both as a base for our trips and as a place to simply relax because it was just that wonderful. A couple of small tips for future guests: the exterior doors don’t have a handle, so if you step outside without your key, you might find yourself locked out (as we did once, and apparently many others have too). But the owners live nearby and are very quick to help out if that happens. Also, the Wi-Fi is great in the main areas, but it doesn’t quite reach the downstairs bedrooms, so just something to be aware of. The tap water was sometimes quite brown, but there was a free spring water fountain in the village square, which was a perfect solution. Lastly, just as a bit of extra awareness, the washing machine and dryer each cost 5 euros per use, using those coin tokens you often find at campsites. It works on a trust basis, but it is a bit pricey.

Overall, it’s in a picturesque little village with great local restaurants and amenities, and we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The house is well-maintained, the surroundings were tidied up every morning, and the pool was cleaned at the crack of dawn. It was truly a fantastic experience from start to finish.

Casa Vania is een heerlijke plek in een schattig dorpje. Het huis is op en top Italiaans met allerlei fresco's, schilderijen en een Italiaanse inrichting. Er is meer dan genoeg ruimte om te zitten, te eten en te koken. Buiten kun je genieten van het boven terras waar op elk tijdstip zon is, maar ook genoeg schaduw. Beneden bij het zwembad komt de zon wat later, het zwembad komt ook wat later in de zon, handig om te weten. Het zwembad is fris, maar op warme dagen heerlijk verkoelend. We waren ook erg blij met de muggenhorren, de airco's en de uitgebreide keukenspullen. In het dorpje is de COOP twee deuren verder, erg handig, want er was genoeg! Aan de andere kant op het pleintje het café Gusto met heerlijke pizza's en drankjes. En de bakker die van allerlei verschillende dingen verkocht. Met een 15 min rit naar beneden is er een grote COOP die dagelijks geopend is. Ook The Firenze mall is dichtbij waar naast dure winkels ook een Adidas en Nike outlet zijn. Dank Iris voor de vriendelijke ontvangst en uitleg, er lag ook nog een boek met allerlei info over de omgeving.
Het enige nadeel vonden wij de bedden, spiraalbedden.

The property is in accordance with the description provided. It is well equipped so as quiet. We spend a good time and enjoyed the surroundings.

Property nice and clean in a nice village with lots of amenities

We enjoyed our stay at the Villa. It is right in the village of Donnini, it is close to a bakery, grocery store and two restaurants. The scenery is beautiful; however, you will need a car to get around Tuscany. We easily took a train to Florence and drove to Pisa and Fiesole.

The house was AMAZING! The view off the terrace was breathtaking, even when it rained. We spent most of the time on the patio taking in the views but also explored the town, which was peaceful and charming. There’s a market, bar, and cafe within 100 steps of the house, very convenient. You need a car if you want to leave the town much, but the drive to Florence was less than an hour and so was the drive to wineries in Chianti. My husband and I stayed with my 8-month old baby and the host had a baby crib and high chair ready for us, which was wonderful! The mother in law suite was great too, but it was not connected to the house so my mom had to walk outside to get to the main house, but it was nice weather so not too inconvenient. They also checked us in around midnight when we were delayed at the airport and had a bottle of wine waiting after a long journey. Would stay again in a heartbeat. We didn’t want to leave!

Even though the weather did not do us any favors, we enjoyed our time spent in the villa all week. The views are breathtaking and the property manager and owner are very friendly and helpful. The town is lovely. Our only wishes were that there was a bathroom on the main floor. Would stay again.

We definitely enjoyed our stay in the villa. It has a lot to offer and is very spacious. There‘s a little cafe/bar and a supermarket right next to it which is very convenient. But we only noticed when we came there that we had to pay 150€ on top in cash for cleaning. Other than that we can really recommend the villa and would come back :)

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Maison spacieuse, agréable, bien équipée, avec une très jolie vue et une piscine privative. Les commerces à proximité facilitent également le quotidien.

The pool water are very cold and not heatable. otherwise Petfect!

Lovely property with all the amenities you will need. Donnini is a quaint village that is as authentic as you could imagine.

La casa è molto bella e trasuda la storia di chi la ha concepita ed arredata ed ha un forte carattere, sia all’interno che all’esterno. Posizione ottima e a pochi passi da tutti i servizi come alimentari, bar, farmacie, banca, poste, ristorante e pizzeria. Siamo stati molto bene e ci siamo rilassati grazie alla terrazza con affaccio vallata, stupenda e alla piscina anche essa vista vallata . Molto piacevole la conoscenza della signora Iris che ci ha fatto il check in e check out e dei proprietari per la loro cortesia e gentilezza. Grazie ancora Sandro e Roberta

Absolutely stunning view.

The villa is very spacious leaves nothing to be desired. The interior is certainly unique - almost like in a museum. For the weather no one can do anything... It was unfortunately colder than expected. Among other things, we could not use the pool.

Casa Vania (locally known as Casa del Forno) is lovely, well-appointed and tastefully furnished. The grounds are beautiful and the views even better. The location is perfect in this little village with all necessary services available. Iris was most kind and helpful and easy to contact. She responded very quickly to our requests and arranged us a contact to Massimiliano, who with his comfortable MB van took us to San Gimignano and airport, most convenient! Apart from the unheated pool (yes, water is too chilly to enjoy swimming, more like a plunge pool, unfortunately) our stay was perfect

Beautiful villa, well appointed, comfortable, spacious and full of the original owner's rich artwork and spirit, it was a pleasure to stay at Casa Vania.
One minute walk from the main square where there is a coffee shop and bar, bakery, supermarket, butcher and pharmacy. Pool area was beautiful but pool is unheated, still very refreshing on hot days.

Wir haben uns in der schönen Villa sehr wohlgefühlt. Der Ausblick der Terrasse ist atemberaubend und wir haben wunderschöne Sonnenuntergänge bei einem Glas Wein genossen. Der Pool wurde von den Kindern viel genutzt. Im Ort ist ein kleiner Lebensmittelmarkt der mal einen kurzen Einkauf ermöglicht um einen erholsamen Tag am Haus zu verbringen. Alles ist top gepflegt und die Vermieter kümmern sich liebevoll um das ganze drum herum. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen!

Sehr viel Platz, wunderschöne Aussicht, spezielle italienische Einrichtung mit viel Charme und eine tolle Terrasse. Schöner Ort zum Erholen. :)

Very pleasant and relaxing place. The house was very clean and pay attention on small details. You can feel yourself like at home. Kitchen is well equipped as well the rooms and bathrooms. If you want to stay in a real tuscan house, do not hesitate! Go and enjoy Vania's house

So stellt man sich ein typisches Haus in der Toakana vor: Balkendecken, Terracotta-Böden, eingerichtet mit witzigen Gegenständen. Und eine Bar fast vor der Tür. Wir haben uns bestens erholt und empfehlen das Haus gerne weiter.

Very nice quality house, small kitchen, wish the pool was heated, poor internet. But the view from the terrace was beautiful, located in a small and quiet little village. Not too far from Florence.

Huis was in orde. Prachtig zicht vanop het terras. Ligging: ideale ligging in het centrum van Donnini: bakker, kleine supermarkt, slager en krantenwinkel op wandelafstand. Nadeel: zwembad ligt aan de noord kant en daardoor is het water nogal koud. We hebben hiervan niet kunnen genieten.
