We were a family of 9 and we had a very nice stay at Villa Sonia.
Amazing property with all the facilities in place
Also a great location with San Donato and restaurants in walking distance and a short distances to other cities, wineyards etc. Highly recommended :)

Et fortreffelig sted og eiendom. Langt større eiendom enn vi hadde forestilt oss, med en rekke uteplasser og sittegrupper. Bassenget og området rundt var bare fantastisk. Huset med sine mange rom og individuelle løsninger gjorde vår organisering av oppholdet enkelt. Kjøkkenet er en stor glede for enhver som er glad i å lage mat for mange. Meget velutstyrt og med store mengder dekketøy osv. Dette huset og eiendommen er noe enhver bør se fram til for gode feriedager. Beliggenheten var topp, midt mellom Firenze og Siena. Vi besøkte begge disse, samt San Gimignano (Tårnbyen), Panzano, Radda, Greve alle i Chianti. Legg inn et besøk på en vingård - vi valgte Tenuta di Carleone i Radda. Dette er et sted og besøk vi sent vil glemme. En knapp kilometer unna ligger San Donato med Trattoria la Toppa (Michelin anbefaling). de beste anbefalinger gis fra 5 voksne og tre barn 13, 5 og 3 år.

Villa Sonia was perfect in every way, The buildings are beautiful, the grounds immaculate. The facilities inside are very modern, with plenty of everything to allow us to explore cooking with the local ingredients. We even tried out the pizza oven on our last night.


The layout of the buildings gives plenty of space for everyone to get together or, find their own pool of tranquility. This made it a joy to spend the week with friends and family (we had 6 adults, 3 teens and an 8 year old). The pictures on the website really do not do justice to what you will find when you arrive.

A big thank-you to Barbara & family who were perfect hosts, so welcoming and friendly, this made the checking in process after a long day of travel painless. They were always there to help with anything (we had a power cut the first night, and they arrived in minutes to fix).

We're already thinking about a return visit. The honesty bar wine cellar a surprise bonus!

One minor niggle - and nothing to do with the property, is that there is no gelateria in San Donato, however the one in Castellina is well worth the short drive.

We had an amazing and restful time at this villa - as others have said, the pictures don't do it justice. It's set in a beautiful part of the country side, short walk to San Donato with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Larger supermarkets 15 mins drive away so a car is recommended - and easy to manage from Florence airport but allow plenty of time for collecting and dropping off hire cars at the airport as you need to use a short transfer bus and you might need to wait for 1 or 2 of the 20 minute loops to get on. We were 6 in the villa so all 4 children had their own rooms and plenty of space. The house is very well equipped and the owners have really worked hard to make it a home from home. Kitchen is very well equipped, there are lots of places to sit in the property by yourself or with others and the table football and table tennis table were a great addition. The local bourse management (Debora and family - you get to meet everyone! :-) are very supportive with advice when you need it but also leave you alone to enjoy the villa. Weather was hot (32 degrees generally) but the stone house manages the heat well and the air conditioning is perfectly adequate. We particularly enjoyed the volunteer-run pizza restaurant next to the Coop. Great fun and I can't think of anything about the property or the holiday that we could improve -- and of course you have Florence on your doorstep (use the 'park and ride'), and Pisa, Sienna, Lucca all very reachable for a day trip. If you pick this villa, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Beautiful villa, owned by a local family. Perfect setting for large families. Set in the medieval village of San Donato. The views are spectacular. The kitchen is extremely well stocked. We made pasta but there is a pizza oven and bbq available. The pool is amazing but there is also a football table and table tennis, plus board games. The Villa is very clean and there’s lots of places to sit and enjoy the views as a family or to eat meals. There is a local coop and pizza takeaway and a few great restaurants nearby. We hired cars, which is essential if you want to go outside of the village. We visited Florence, Siena and San Gimignano, which are all approximately 30 minutes away. I would definitely recommend this villa for a memorable holiday.

An outstanding place to stay in Tuscany! I am so happy we chose to rent this property….three weeks in the summer was a bucket list fulfilled….to live for a bit in Italy, not just a night or two here and there. The property is better than the pictures show. A very old villa, extremely well maintained. We had 11 kids and grandkids the first week, 7 the second week, and 4 adult couples the third week. Ample room, large enough kitchen, great unique bedrooms, the pool was very well used and enjoyed every day. Owners Sonia, Mirco, and Debra were very accessible, took care of minor issues when they occurred, were so very helpful and made our stay very special. The nearby town of San Donato was very cool…medieval streets and buildings, three great restaurants, a cafe for coffee in the morning or gelato later in the day, walking distance from the Villa…..very cool. Also a smallish COOP food store….think small grocery store but with cheeses, meats, produce, wine….all you need ….although we did head to nearby Poggibonsi a couple of times to shop at a truly large grocery with many more choices. Highly recommend having a rental car as we used it often to visit nearby towns, many winery visits, and trips to the Airport to pick up and deliver our guests. Thank you Debra, Mirco and Sonia. You are the best!

The place was everything that I had hoped for and more. Plenty of room for our group with the different sleeping areas, everyone had the opportunity to have their own space when needed. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything that was need. The views, especially at sunrise and sunset were unbelievable. Conveniently located between Florence and Siena allowed for easily visiting both cities. The owners were waiting to greet us upon arrival and showed us all around the property, and answered any questions that we had.

The place is exactly like the pictures, and pool was a perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing. There were also several excellent restaurants within walking distance. 

This is a beautiful property. We were a party of 6 adults and 4 children and it suited all of us. The kitchen is especially well equipped with lots of crockery including large serving platters for our Italian feasts! Good wood fired bbq outside. Bedrooms were comfortable and bathrooms clean with nice towels. The good sized pool was a bit cold but the children enjoyed it every day. Good level of sunbeds etc too. The grounds are excellent. Lots to explore for the children and lots of different places to sit and enjoy the sun, some shade or the view. San Donato is well worth the walk with a small Co op and a couple of great restaurants plus the very pretty older part. San Gimignano, Greve and Colle de Val d Elsa all within 30 minutes and all lovely; shops, restaurants and beautiful views. Wine tasting tour at Casa Emma absolutely wonderful. It’s also walking distance! Highly recommended.

This is without a doubt a very nice property and all of our party enjoyed our stay. The owners were very welcoming, the house is quite clean and charming. There are places for the whole group to get together but also areas for solitude. The landscaping is beautiful and very well cared for. The views are beautiful with views of the Tuscan countryside, wine and olive growing areas. It is very close to San Donato a beautiful small medieval town. there are 2 nice restaurants in the town one of which is less than 100 yards from the house. It's within easy driving distance to many interesting towns (Florence, Siena, San Gimmignano, Montalcino and others. Our family left with wonderful memories of this beautiful place and. of Tuscany.

One problem we had was that the rental agent Posarelli asked for each visitors biographical information including passport numbers only 2 days before we were to depart. This should have been done much more in advance.

We had a lovely relaxed stay at Villa Sonia. The Villa and grounds are immaculate. It suited our 4 generation party of 8 really well and we felt very at home there. There is plenty of room to accomodate everyone being together and also gives lots of private space aswell. The kitchens are well equipped and we enjoyed cooking and barbecuing as well as using the local restaurants. The pool and the air conditioning were a life saver in the high temperatures. The Villa is well placed for tourism. Despite the heat we had very enjoyable trips to San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Castellina and Siena - all easily accessible. We also enjoyed wine tasting at Casa Emma next door.

Entre amis, nous avons passé un super séjour à la Villa Sonia, Les prestations sont de très belle qualité, le cadre est parfait au milieu de la Toscane, les chambres parfaites et toutes très bien équipées. L'équipe d'accueil est également très agréable.

The Villa and grounds are immaculate. Close to a lot of the small Chianti towns and central location if wanting to travel to Florence, Venice etc.The Villa was as described and more. There was plenty of separate rooms for all 12 of my family. Lots of kitchen and dining space. Enough dishes and accessories anyone would need. The pool was huge and enjoyed every day. So clean and beautiful scenery all around. Plenty of loungers, towels etc. Loved it on those hot day. Loved how the bedrooms were like separate apartments. Our family consisted of 4 separate families and we all had our own spaces. The 3 older grandchildren had their rooms and bathroom upstairs to themselves so worked out great. They were all very clean and very unique. Beds were very comfortable and air conditioned which we really appreciated. Bathrooms were clean, showers were great. Nothing to complain about here. Loved the little town of San Donato which is within walking distance of the Villa. An amazing restaurant on the hills next to Village plus many others in town. Best pizza by the street vendor. The Posaerelli agency was very helpful helping me plan before our trip and once we got her Debora the owner was very helpful with suggestions and providing us with everything we needed including a stroller. Both answered our questions quickly and with patience. Thank you!!

We stayed at Villa Sonia during a family vacation to Tuscany. The Villa is absolutely wonderful, we can't say enough positive things about the grounds, amenities, pool, etc. It is a very special place and we enjoyed it immensely. The host Deborah and family are welcoming, helpful and take excellent care of Villa Sonia. It was perfect for our needs as we are a large family and appreciated having separate living spaces but communal areas to gather as well. The hosts have truly thought of everything to make their guests stay comfortable, enjoyable and peaceful. The pictures don't do it justice, it's even more beautiful in person. The location is quaint and there are a few good restaurants, grocery store and pharmacy in walking distance. The village of San Donato in Poggio is charming and serene and we loved seeing the town. There are also good wineries within 15 minutes drive. Highly recommend Villa Sonia! Make sure to plan for free time for the pool as you won't want to leave!

We’ve just returned from the most glorious week at Villa Sonia and it really is a most beautiful, special place. The grounds, gardens, house and apartment are well-equipped, comfortable and the owners, Debora and family, have thought of everything. We were there for a big birthday celebration and it was the perfect spot for 13 of us, so many lovely seating areas, heavenly pool and gardens for relaxing never felt crowded. We had two lovely local ladies cook dinner one night and it was honestly, the most delicious meal we all had that week (and we’d eaten in some fabulous places). Villa Sonia really is as beautiful as the photos, and such a super location in the Tuscany/Chianti region. The owner and family are rightly very proud of their property, want only that guests have a memorable experience and enjoy their time there. They deliver on this a hundred times, it’s a gem and we’ve the most wonderful memories.

A perfect venue for our family celebration.
There was plenty of space, beautiful garden areas. The pool was clean. The kitchen very well equipped as was the laundry room.
Plenty of space for us to eat together inside and outside.
The owners were quick to respond if we have any issue and we’re very welcoming and pleasant.
The location is perfect for visiting key places of interest,
It was great to be able to walk to bars and restaurants were the locals were very friendly.
We would definitely consider visiting again.

Lovely villa and beautiful grounds. We loved the wine cellar where we could simply sign out wine at our leisure (pay at the end). There are many little sitting areas to relax that allowed us to enjoy the stunning sunsets and enjoy flowers growing everywhere on the property. The pool area is fabulous and well done! We are a family of 5 with 3 young adults and had plenty of room.
Here’s what we’d wish we’d known:
•Beds were very hard/firm. Very.
•Pillows hard/flat.
•Towels/linens should be updated.
None of us slept comfortably but it’s hard to complain with everything else so beautiful.
The coffee situation is challenging. You can use the drip coffee maker (buy coffee and groceries at the near by little grocery store) but no coffee filters provided (needs cone shaped filters), so couldn’t use. Anyway, not a deal breaker but good to know (pack filters).

Deb (the home owners family) met us there late upon arrival and was so kind and welcoming. We appreciated the fresh eggs left and the thoughtful tour.
One last important note: the location is very near SR222, the most gorgeous scenic route through Tuscany. That is a huge benefit!
Villa Sonia is warm and inviting, we highly recommend it.

There is some road noise which you can hear when outside but it is not too bad and a small inconvenience considering the location and impeccable condition of the property. Nous avons passé 2 semaines formidables en famille dans cette magnifique région. La maison (ou plutôt les maisons) sont très confortables, le terrain est immense et la piscine magnifique.
Les hôtes ont été aux petits soins pour nous. Tout a été parfait.

The villa is breathtaking. I was speechless while being shown around the property as it is so beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. The pool is incredible, the villa has all the amenities you would ever need and more. The grounds to walk around are beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at villa Sonia and would love to come back again. The host Debora was so friendly and answered all our questions. This place is worth every penny.

We had an incredible stay at Villa Sonia. The pictures don’t do it justice! An incredibly comfortable, well appointed villa, which so much space for an extended family stay. The views and location are exceptional! Can’t recommend highly enough

Perfect villa in a perfect location for a 3 generations vacation. We - a family over 3 generations of 7 adults & 2 small children - spent a week in this beautiful location and way above standard villa. The entire host family was awaiting us on the property to ensure everything is in order. Everything was sparkling clean and in working order, the kitchen well equipped for at least 10 eaters and space for 3 simultaneous chefs and even more bystanders. We had the lunches usually in our sight seeing destinations (Siena, Florence, San Gimignano) and cooked dinner ourselves every day in the house and enjoyed a perfectly grilled bistecca fiorentina and self made pizza & bread from the fabulous pizza oven. The table in the garden was the perfect setting for this with the benefit of no driver needed after extensive wine tasting. The quality of the furnitures and actually all items in and around the house are of unusual high quality - what a nice difference to the cheap plastic stuff you find in most places. The pool was absolutely spotless, the lawn well kept. The property is large enough, so one can enjoy also a quite moment "away from the crowd". We all in the family agreed that is one of the few places we would consider to return - next time for 2 weeks !

Great stay in a new location for us

Una estancia de ensueño. La villa está situada espléndidamente a mitad de camino de Florencia y de siena (aprox 30 km de cada una) lo que permite acceder varias veces a las mismas. La villa es preciosa. Muy cuidada. Vistas estupendas y una piscina magnífica.la vivienda espaciosa y con todo lujo de detalles. Pegada a un pueblo medieval con todos los servicios como san Donato in poggio. La propiedad es súper atenta y está disponible permanentemente para solucionar todos los problemas que puedan surgir. Un acierto sin duda. Un diez todo. Problema generalizado en la
Toscana y con el que hay que estar alerta, los mosquitos. Gracias a Débora, sonia y marco por su disposición. Inolvidable

Great holiday, introduced to the property on arrival by the family/owners. Beautifully clean and the layout suited our 3 families perfectly. The kitchen was an added bonus, so many large houses we visit simply do not have the tools for cooking for 12 but this villa certainly does. So we eat most evenings at the villa but we did pop out and eat at the local pizzeria which is close and cheap and very tasty. Located with easy reach of San Gimignano/Florence/Siena and dozens of winery’s. We visited Fatteria La Ripa about a mile away and the host was knowledgeable and great story teller, so much more interesting than the normal ‘we produce 150k bottles and they cost €!’
All round great holiday and great and well appointed inside and out villa and the A/C was a really appreciated and well used !!

One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed! Every comfort was considered. Many beautiful spots to sit and enjoy the view.

In dieser Villa findet man einen wunderbaren Mix aus rustikal und modern an. Es ist alles sehr schön gemacht. Der Garten ist wunderschön und im Sommer sicherlich ein Traum! Die Lage ist ruhig mit schöner Aussicht. Von der Villa aus kommt man schnell nach Florenz und Siena. Auch der kleine Ort San Donato ist sehr schön und einen Besuch Wert ist auf jeden Fall Certaldo Alto. Vielen Dank für die guten Empfehlungen und den schönen Urlaub.

We had a wonderful holiday in this extravagant villa. The decor is very nice, the swimming pool just heavenly and the location perfect. You can go to Florence, Siena and the Chianti area. In the garden of the house you can relax in peace and enjoy the picturesque surroundings. The hosts were very nice. We can only recommend the villa.

Beatificazione place with breathtaking surroundings. Very good Restaurants near by. Good position to visit Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and Pisa too. Higly recommended.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Urlaub in dieser Luxusvilla. Es war noch nicht echt warm, aber das Haus und die Umgebung waren so schön, das das Wetter nur eine 2.rangige Rolle gespielt hat. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
